Pianist Hania Rani on finding her voice, defying expectations and touring the world

Her latest album, Ghost, sees Polish musician Hania Rani reach out even further from classical piano towards a texture of electronica and vocals, creating a sonic palette of dazzling originality

There’s a stillness that strikes you as you travel through the Polish countryside. Tall, slender pine trees stand solitary in long, open fields next to houses and roads with little sign of life. The clouds too seem to hang lower, squeezing the distance between land and sky. Such tranquillity is further illuminated by the meditative music of Hania Rani, the Polish pianist and composer bridging the gap between modern classical and ambient electronica.
