Advice column: my nightmare teenage acne has come back – in my 40s

Dear Expert,

Having suffered from severe acne as a teenager, I’ve spent money and time on repairing my skin (including expensive aesthetic treatments). Now, at 45, my acne has returned, and it’s killing my confidence completely. I’ve seen a dermatologist who tells me that this can happen to women of my age, but that there is very little I can do except endure it. Is that correct, or is there another answer?
