Yet another sinking feeling

After the latest devastating flood to befall the city, Cork business owners are incensed by what they perceive as the lack of preventive measures taken by the government. Deirdre O’Shaughnessy reports

Minister for Public Works Brian Hayes was due to visit Cork on Friday, somewhat ironically, to address a conference on flood management at the Fota Island Resort.

Instead, he found himself in the city on Thursday night, meeting local council officials and businesspeople to discuss yet another major flood to damage the city centre.
