Shatter got senior official to dismiss allegations by Garda whistleblower

Minister for Justice Alan Shatter got a senior official to dismiss a garda whistleblower's allegations of improper cancellation of penalty points before the garda investigation had even finished.

Through his official, the minister privately cautioned Garda Sergeant Maurice McCabe, who blew the whistle on the penalty points controversy, against any ''rush to judgment while simultaneously dismissing three of his allegations.
