Minister determined on legal bill despite missing deadline

The government is missing its own deadline to pass the long-awaited bill to cut legal costs due to behind-the-scenes lobbying by lawyers.

The legal services regulation bill has been fought tooth-and-nail by the legal profession since it was first published three years ago.

But a government source said there had been a “concerted push-back” from the legal profession against the bill.
