While the FAI can rightly be proud of its successful Euro 2020 hosting bid, the real challenge lies in attempting to translate the award into a cure for Irish football’s financial ills.

Dublin has been named as one of 13 cities granted the honour of staging the pan-European tournament. This is a one-off change from the traditional format of one nation hosting the month-long football festival.
