Waiting lists are not accidental: they are the business model of the HSE

The only surprise about the recent RTÉ disclosure of unconscionable hospital waiting lists is that anyone was surprised. This is the oldest of old news.

Not only was it universally known that there was a terrible, internationally unprecedented problem with our waiting times, but the most troubling individual examples in the programme had been repeatedly and very specifically brought to the attention of this and previous governments on multiple occasions over many years.
