Prudence is needed on climate change

This summer’s drought and its attendant water restrictions have made us aware of our vulnerability to unusual weather events. Taken together with Storm Ophelia in October 2017 and the Beast from the East that brought widespread snow in February 2018, the drought has given rise to headlines suggesting that climate change is causing more weather extremes.
