Ireland’s welfare should be our priority

Free trade between North and South and across the Irish Sea is vitally important for Ireland. We must put this first, rather than automatically supporting the EU line on the border

When driving to Belfast last weekend, I was surprised to see what appeared to be a number of new camera installations, just north of the border at Jonesborough. If these cameras are there merely to monitor from afar daily crossings, then they could be justified. However, if they are the precursor of some system of control of movement, they are completely unacceptable. The Taoiseach made this very clear in the US this week.
