Utility firm charging ahead with bid to turn country smart

Pinergy, the fledgling utility company backed by rugby star Paul O’Connell, is putting over €6 million into trebling its market and rolling out smarthome style super meters.

The company, founded by former Mazars partner Enda Gunnell, is moving beyond its pay-as-you-go niche and launching a full assault on the core domestic electricity market in October, ahead of the winter surge in demand.
