On Twitter over Christmas, an associate of mine decried a species.

“Of all the deadly creatures in this wonderful country, the one wild animal that attacks me is a bloody goose,” he raged. “The featured aggressor approached silently from behind and drew blood with a peck to the ear.”

He concluded the tweet with a disparaging appraisal of the belligerent bird, to which I replied: “Imagine what they must think of our behaviour.”
