Uber, the global taxi app trying to expand in Ireland, complained during its lobbying campaign with senior government ministers that issuing printed receipts for tax journeys was an “unnecessary burden”.

The US multinational is disrupting taxi markets around the world but is finding it hard to make inroads here due to the strict rules in place. So far, it only has cars on the road in Dublin and Belfast.
