TDs’ treatment of RTÉ proves their disdain for media

They may talk in public about the importance of a strong, free media for democracy but, as their attitude to RTÉ shows, our elected representatives aren’t always keen on being asked tough questions

The government’s attitude to the media can be summed up in its recent history with RTÉ. The cash-strapped state broadcaster has been begging successive ministers for communications for help. That help has not been forthcoming.
