Sumitomo could well be the harbinger of more deals of this type
Two years ago, Fyffes looked a little deflated. Its mega-billion euro merger with Chiquita had fallen apart and its share price was on the slide.
It was a loss for Fyffes, analysts wrote at the time, which had missed its chance to become part of the leading global banana producer in the world.
But, they said, that did not mean all was lost.
