Ex-FG spin doctor Flannery hired to lobby for gas installers

Former Fine Gael strategist Frank Flannery has been hired to lobby for a crackdown on rogue gas installers.

Registered gas installers have warned that shoddy workmanship by black market operators is leaving households at risk of gas poisoning or gas explosions.

There are an estimated 30,000 gas boilers installed every year, but only 12,000 certificates are being returned to show that a trained gas installer has carried out the work.
