TDs hear details of dispute with IDA over number of jobs scheme has created

The chief executive of Connect Ireland, the job creation scheme backed by Kilkenny businessman Terry Clune, yesterdaytold an Oireachtas committee that closing down the scheme would be bad for job creation and a “killer blow” for rural Ireland.

The Committee on Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation was hearing details ofa dispute between Connect Ireland and IDA Ireland.

Connect Ireland is understood to be seeking substantial damages running to millions of euro from the IDA followingthe agency’s decision to scrap the arrangement when the current contract ends next Sunday.
