Donald Trump’s White House is likely to pursue a policy of economic isolationism – and that will pose a number of problems for Ireland

Jeffrey Immelt is the chief executive of General Electric, one of America’s biggest and most profitable companies. It is also one of its most multinational. In 1995, GE had around 150,000 of its 220,000 workers in the US, constituting 68 per cent of its workforce. Today, it has 125,000 workers in the US and its global workforce has grown beyond 330,000.
