Four Irish authors have been nominated to the prestigious 2023 Booker Prize longlist, meaning Ireland has produced the most nominees of any country, relative to population size, in the prize’s history.

The nomination of Sebastian Barry, Elaine Feeney, Paul Lynch, and Paul Murray to the list, which features 13 novels, brings the total number of Irish nominees to 37.
