About an hour outside of Lviv in western Ukraine, a home for boys and men with special needs is continuing its vital work despite the war.

As we approached the gates of the orphanage in the small village of Rozdil, the boys’ excitement was audible.

“This is like Christmas for them, because there are rarely visitors,” Oleksandra Yanovych, a businesswoman and activist working with the local government, said.
