Fine Gael TDs are delighted with themselves. The letter from three of its junior ministers calling for €1,000-plus tax relief for workers on the average wage, in their minds at least, reinforced the party’s credentials as the party looking out for middle Ireland. It also cocked a snook at Fianna Fáil for good measure.
