There’s only one winner when cracks form in western allies’ solidarity, and that’s the Russian president

The war in Ukraine has been devastating for the country and its citizens. It has also piled pressure on western democracies to respond with comprehensive military aid and with open-door policies to the millions of Ukrainians forced to flee the conflict.

The challenges have been enormous for all concerned, but overall the response has been one that has demonstrated the very best of western solidarity.
