State's tax take is €742m ahead of projections

Spending is just below profile, according to public expenditure minister

Ireland has taken in €742 million more than it projected in tax receipts so far this year, according to the department of finance.

The surge has been driven by corporate tax returns, the department's figures show, with more taxes paid by corporations €505 million -- or 19 per cent -- ahead of what the department projected for the end of June. Overall, corporate tax returns accounted for €2.67 billion.
