Ryanair has welcomed the decision of the Italian government to reverse a €2.50 municipal tax increase and revise its airport guidelines, moves that have prompted it to reverse its decision to close its Pescara airport base in November and to accelerate its growth plans for the Italian market.

The low-cost airline said it would allocate 10 new aircraft, worth more than $1 billion, to the Italian market next year and launch 44 new routes, 21 of them at Rome and Milan airports and 23 at other regional airports.Ryanair also promised to deliver 10 per cent growth in passenger numbers to more than 35 million from the current 32 million and to create 2,250 jobs at Italy's airports.
