Galway-based medtech SymPhysis Medical secures €1.5m in funding

SymPhysis Medical, which has developed a solution to treat a common complication of late-stage cancers, has secured €1.5 million in funding ahead of plans to raise an additional €4.5 million to secure FDA approval for its technology.

The Galway-based company has developed a drainage device called Releaze. The tool helps individuals coping with malignant pleural effusion (MPE), a condition in which fluid builds up around the lungs and wall of the chest cavity.
