There can’t have been too many people expecting Web Summit to announce a successor to Paddy Cosgrave quite as quickly as it did this week, but the choice of Katherine Maher, looks an inspired one.
Her appointment, which was confirmed early Monday morning, allows the company to draw a line under the recent controversy arising from Cosgrave’s comments on Israel. Maher is going to be busy over the next few months mending broken bridges and working to restore Web Summit’s reputation globally. But as my colleague Catherine Sanz’s excellent profile shows, Maher has an impressive CV and plenty of experience in creating trust.
