Closing the gender gap in tech

Systemic problems across education and in the workplace are undermining gender balance in Stem careers. Ian Campbell talks to three women actively involved in fixing the issues

Broken rungs in the career ladder are holding girls and women back at important points in their development, which partly explains why technical roles in the tech sector are still dominated by men. Problems begin in school, carry on with third-level course selection and persist in many companies, where the small percentage of women who break through the glass ceiling often feel discouraged from taking their careers to the next level.
