Food court footfall is rising at twice the rate of general retail, a new report has found.

The study from Savills on retail published this morning finds the food sector has dominated recent letting activity in suburban shopping centres.

The figures indicate that food and beverage sales are now more deeply embedded into the core business of retail.

Five Guys, Cosmo, Prezzo and Milano are all actively pursuing opportunities around the trend.

According to the report, accelerating retail rental increases over the past three years have now moderated.
