The government’s decision not to change how RTÉ is funded dominated the release of the Future of Media Commission’s report last week. Yet NewsBrands Ireland, which represents the print media sector, believes more attention should have been paid to an issue that was barely a footnote in the announcement.

According to Colm O’Reilly, chairman of the industry group, the sector cannot afford a delay in the introduction of a zero Vat rate for newspaper publishers.
