Brendan Howlin has criticised Leo Varadkar's decision to abolish half of the cabinet sub-committees

Labour leader Brendan Howlin has compared Leo Varadkar to Charles Haughey, and warned of the “particularly dangerous” centralisation of power in the Taoiseach’s department.

Varadkar’s decision to abolish half of the cabinet sub-committees and conduct more one-to-one meetings with ministers means he “accrues an awful lot more power” into his office, Howlin said in an interview with The Sunday Business Post.
