Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that he would like to see Tony Holohan, the former chief medical officer, back in a public service role.

Holohan, who is publishing his memoirs this month, left his role in the Department of Health in controversial circumstances after a planned move to a public health role in Trinity College was called off.
