Taoiseach: Fine Gael has ‘no plans’ for early general election

A general election must be called by spring 2025

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has insisted the government has no plans for an early general election in Ireland.

Varadkar said the next elections in the country will be the local and European polls in June next year, although a general election must be called by spring 2025.

He dismissed any suggestion that his party Fine Gael may push for one to be called in the first part of next year instead.
