Oireachtas Committee recommends right to statutory sick pay for all employees

All employees in Ireland, regardless of length of employment, should be entitled to statutory sick pay, an Oireachtas committee recommended.

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment made the recommendation within its pre-legislative scrutiny report of the General Scheme of the Sick Pay Bill, forthcoming legislation which seeks to enshrine in law a right for employees to avail of paid leave in the event of illness.
