‘No compulsion’ for parents to pay school voluntary contribution, Norma Foley says

Norma Foley, the Minister for Education has advised parents that there is “no compulsion to pay” voluntary contributions by schools in the midst of the cost of living crisis.

Many schools engage in regular fundraising during the year to pay for new school equipment and facilities. This is an essential income stream for many schools, as the Department of Education’s capitation grants per pupil often do not cover all of their costs.
