Cars which cannot automatically call emergency services face failing NCT

The legal requirement to have the new call system comes into effect in May

Drivers face the prospect of failing their NCT test in the coming months if their car cannot automatically call the emergency services in the event of a crash.

All cars manufactured since March 2018 are required to be fitted with an SOS system, Ecall, that automatically makes a free emergency call if the vehicle is involved in a serious road accident.
