A president, not a philosopher
PJ Drudy (SBP 2/8/2015) appears to take the view that the purpose of the presidency is to identify or devise an appropriate economic model, and also to give greater emphasis on ethical issues in politics.
These are indeed worthy motives. If satisfactorily resolved, they would greatly benefit the people, not only of Ireland, but also of all countries. This has been the objective of philosophers in many countries ...
