Ireland approves revised Nature Restoration Law proposal
New text on contentious legislation to include definition of rewetting that allows individual countries to implement personalised strategies to meet targets
Ireland has voted in favour of a revised proposal of the EU’s contentious nature restoration law, following the failure of months of talks on national and European level to reach an agreement.
It comes as the bloc’s climate chief Frans Timmermans has warned the landmark deal is at risk of being dragged into the “culture wars,” while plans to reach net-zero by the middle of the century risk being paralyzed by political division.
