Fianna Fáil has been dealt a blow with the departure of its top economic adviser to work with an asset management fund next month.

Party sources have said Kevin Barrett’s move to Irish Life Investment Managers (ILIM) is a big loss after he spent the last five years formulating many of the financial policies that helped Fianna Fáil recover its credibility on the economy.
