The Irish government must support a new European Commission proposal to exit the Energy Charter Treaty, according to a Sinn Féin senator who has campaigned on the issue for years.

Lynn Boylan was responding to reports that the European Commission had recently written to member states saying a withdrawal from the treaty by all 27 member states was “unavoidable”.
