Government confident of Apple data centre being built

The government believes that Apple remains committed to eventually building a data centre in Athenry, despite the tech giant giving no firm indication of its plans last week.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar met with Apple chief executive Tim Cook in California during a trade mission last week, but admitted afterwards that he did not “get a start date, or a definite commitment or anything like that” for the Galway project.
