In 1924, Jack B. Yeats and poet Oliver St. John Gogarty won the first medals for the newly independent Irish Free State in the Paris Olympics. A century later, the games are returning to City of Light, where Ireland’s cultural centre — appropriately situated on the Rue des Irlandais in the French capital’s Latin Quarter — is commemorating the wins with an exhibition.
