Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty clashed on Tuesday with officials from the Department of Finance and the Central Bank who expressed concerns about his ‘no sale, no consent’ bill which aims torestrict the activities of vulture funds.

At a meeting of the Oireachtas finance committee, Gary Tobin of the Department of Finance rejected a suggestion that the department was “batting for the banks”.
