Disability ruling may pave way for more lawsuits on HSE wait times
High Court found in favour of a mother who first sought help for her child back in 2018 and was told it would take five years for them to be assessed
The HSE is facing the prospect of more legal action relating to children with disabilities who are waiting years for services, following a High Court judgment.
There are around 52,000 children waiting for initial assessment and therapy from speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and dietitians.
Many of them have been told that there are no appointments available for them due to the HSE’s recruitment issues.
