‘Debt forgiveness’ not on agenda for Noonan-Lagarde meeting

IMF managing director Christine Lagarde and Minister for Finance Michael Noonan will not be discussing the possibility of a “debt conference” between major European lenders and indebted periphery nations when they meet this week.

The former French finance minister, who now heads up the New York-based IMF, will be in Dublin tomorrow for a conference organised by the Central Bank on “lessons from Ireland’s recovery from the bank-sovereign loop”.
