Budget 2024: Labour Party calls for SUV tax to end ‘car bloat’ and increased bank levy
The proposal is contained in Labour’s alternative budget which has been launched today.
The Labour Party is calling for a tax on SUVs to "end car bloat” in its alternative budget.
The party has unveiled an overall spending package of around €9 billion, which is offset by around €2 billion in additional taxes such as a €500 million bank levy
The party is calling for a SUV tax, following the introduction of a €1,000 tax in France on every 100 kilogrammes that a SUV weighs over 1,800 kilogrammes.
