Brexit and carbon taxes dominated this year’s budget as predicted - but there was some good news for older people and parents of young children.

Any lingering hopes of tax cuts or spending splurges were dashed within seconds of Paschal Donohoe beginning his speech as he announced that this was a budget that had“been developed in the shadow of Brexit”.
