Bruton launches rescue plan for underperforming secondary schools

Minister for Education Richard Bruton is set to launch a rescue plan for poorly performing secondary schools.

The Step Up pilot project is designed to offer more help to schools which are failing to send enough students to third level colleges and further education courses.

This will involve help to improve teaching standards, tackle disciplinary problems and reduce absenteeism.
