Last month, a mural was painted on the outside wall of the Project Arts Centre in Temple Bar. It read, “Repeal the 8th” in a large, red heart logo. But it didn’t last long: it was removed after three weeks following a warning by Dublin City Council. Make no mistake about it, although couched in legalese, the council’s move is political and threatens the democratic nature of public space.
