Last week was an exercise in politicising the police, yet again, for purely partisan advantage. It is unashamedly self-interested political prostitution bereft of any whiff of public service. A charade cloaked in political pantomime.

The only objective of the opposition, of whatever stripe, is a head on a plate. The only objective of the government is to save that head. That is what last week came down to.
