We are an island surrounded – by food! All day, each night, there is no escape from the relentless display of food. Buy petrol, go to the movies, get on a bus – it no longer matters where you are; there is no escape. Food is either for sale or being advertised and glorified.

Cafés, supermarkets, convenience stores all rely on people in a hurry to sell grab bag type food. Get home, flop in front of the telly and there’sGreat British Bake Off, just one of a relentless supply of television programmes celebrating more ways to eat. And you can tailor your social media platform to provide you with an endless feed of – well – food! You can’t even count the Instagram food accounts; there’s a video for everything. There’s even You Tube’s Drunk Cooking with Hannah Hart or Epic Meal Time with its seven million followers.
