This week’s talks on restoring devolved government in the North are crucial and the DUP should think twice before refusing to compromise on the issues

Make no mistake, restoring devolved government in the North may prove to be very difficult. Two years ago, the institutions collapsed in a bitter row between the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) and Sinn Féin. If anything, the political context the parties now find themselves in may be even more difficult. In the intervening time, the Brexit crisis has further polarised attitudes.
